I have a dirty little secret. My secret makes me feel a tad ashamed and guilty, but mostly elated. I’ve discovered that any shows on la tele (tv) here that were originally in English but dubbed in Spanish can be switched back to the original English audio via the remote control! All week I listen to Spanish t.v. and practice my listening…but on the weekends when my roommate is gone, I get my English on.
As a result of craving a little English in my salón (living room), I have been watching the most ridiculous programs. This weekend I caught the 90s MK & A classic “Billboard Dad”, one absurd Nora Robert’s made-for-tv movie “Midnight on the Bayou”, and several episodes of “Smallville”, a show which I really really don’t like. I’m greedy for the sound of English, doesn’t matter how I get my fix.
Don’t worry, I also peppered in several outings with friends, a bit of cleaning, a little studying of Spanish vocabulary (*cuchara! fregar!), and some wonderful chats with friends and family.

I haven’t been posting photos because my internet is so slow that it takes about 30 minutes/photo. I’ll try to upload and post a snippet here and there.
When I moved into my piso (apartment) and began to try to make it feel more like home, I was distressed at where to display the many photos I brought from home. I didn’t want to stick tape on the walls and risk peeling off all the paint. Then I got crafty. My closet doors are slated and so I decided to tie lengths of yarn vertically on each of the four doors and then I bought super-mini clothespins to secure each photo to the yarn. It’s not a gorgeous display, but I was pretty proud of what I came up with.

I received my first piece of mail from a dear friend Ali last week. I finally secured a mail key from my landlord and I was so excited that there was already something waiting inside the buzón (mailbox) for me. I immediately decided I wanted to display my mail as well, mainly because Ali’s stationary was so pretty. So now I’ve added this string for mail!
Speaking of mail, would you like to send me some? I had several friends request my address before I left for Spain, but of course I didn’t have one yet. I’ve since lost track of who asked. So, if you would like my address in case you feel inspired to send me a piece of happy mail, please leave a comment here or email me.
...If you send me mail, it'll go on the pretty yarn display! But that's totally not a bribe.
...If you send me mail, I'll love you forever and maybe give you chocolate! That's a bribe.
*spoon! to mop!

obviously, I am dying to send you mail. I want to be on the string :)
I also want to be on the string! And I think your picture design idea is adorable. Muy lindo! :)
Very cute! I have all my letters from my friends up on my fridge...not nearly as creative, but it makes me happy.
I would love to send you mail! Man, I get homesick being in a foreign country with my family for 2+ weeks. You're a trooper!
Kate, I want your address!! I miss talking to you. Your picture display is so cute and creative! I'm glad you're settling in and feeling more comfortable.
Yes, absolutely want your address! I love snail mail :-). What a cute photo display idea. Might have to copy that one! Hope you are feeling settled in and are enjoying every moment over there! I can imagine being starved just to hear a familiar word...and so don't think your "secret" need be dirty at all.~
Haha, I've seen "Midnight on the Bayou"... Oh, the drama!
The way you hang the photos is really smart and pretty. I have so many photos I want to put up, maybe I should do it like that..
I think I can ignore the Smallville comment ;o) because I want yo snail mail!!! <3
I never asked for your mailing address! I need your mailing address! And then, if the Greek post office is ever open, I can send you something.
