This will be my last post before I {officially} become an Aunt. I think about my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew all the time as they inch (or waddle) towards the due date. My nephew will be born sometime this coming week while I am away. He will be born while I am either in Barcelona or Bilbao, Spain. I am so glad that I will have a friend with me because I know I will be overflowing with joy and need to spill onto somebody.
I just wanted to leave a few words.
Dear Sweet Baby,
I wish I could meet you right away. I wish I could pry you from my sister's arms (after giving her plenty of time, of course--like ten minutes) and hold you and marvel at your tiny precious life. I imagine myself staring into your big brand new eyes--or maybe at the lids, I know newborns sleep a lot--and just loving you to pieces. I already do.
We are going to meet in June. I am going to cuddle you and stare at you for hours and no one else will have the tiniest bit of my focus. I've never been around a new baby so you'll have to teach me. I can't wait to hear you coo or laugh for the first time. I'll do my best to help you when you cry.
Someday, I will sing you this song as a lullabye, because when I first heard it I thought of you...
I promise you will always have me on your side. I promise to try to be the coolest Aunt there is. And I am totally cool, just don't listen to your Dad's stories, ok?
No matter where life takes the two of us, you can always count on me.

Ahh congratulations! I'm so excited for you! And your sister, of course, and her husband, and your family... I can't wait to here when she/he's born. I love babies so much. I feel cheated out of aunt-hood because the only sibling I have of marrying age is becoming a priest!
