In early to mid-March I got to travel with my parents for almost 2 weeks. We went to Madrid, Lisboa, Sintra, Belém, Cascais, Sevilla, and Córdoba. Best of all, I got to show them “home” here in the pueblo and introduce them to my Spanish “family”. I hate that it has been so long and I haven’t talked about the trip because it was so wonderful! The problem is I feel helpless without being able to share photos. We did so much on the trip, had so many laughs and good talks, but for once words just aren’t enough…there’s just too much! I’ve sat down to write a re-cap post about ten times and can’t.
The same thing goes for this past weekend. I spent a wonderful weekend in Granada with my friend Liz. Granada was astonishing; just beautiful and breathtaking. It was my second time visiting the Alhambra and I was so glad for it because I remember sadly very little from my first trip to Granada in 2003. I want so badly to share pictures with you that accompany stories.
So, I have decided since I just don’t think I can tell the stories without the photos that I am going to wait and plan to do little Spain posts this summer when I am home with my fast internet. I know I’ll be missing Spain once I’m State-side, so it’ll be the perfect time to indulge in some nostalgia and share stories and pictures.
In the meantime I will tell you: I fell in love with Portugal and their pasteis de Belém (pastries from Belém); I devoured churros and chocolate in a famous churrería in Madrid with the family; I guided my family through Sevilla and got to see my Mom tear up in the gardens of the Alcazar and my Dad in the garden where my great-grandfather used to teach; I fulfilled a random dream of mine to buy handmade sweets from the cloistered nuns in a convent in Granada; and I made hundreds of happy & bittersweet memories.

i am so glad you've loved your travels! you have to show me all your photos!
So sad you can't share the pictures with us... we'll have to wait.
I have one question. Was your great grandfather Spanish? I'm asking that because for what did you said, it sound like it.
I have family in the USA, because my great grandoncle and great grandfather went to USA to make money. My great grandfather came back to Spain, but not my great grandoncle.
I am just curious if you bave some roots here in Spain.
You must have seen the whole of Spain by now. It sounds so great!
So very happy to have a sliver of your memories to share together! It was an amazing two weeks dear. Love you, Daddy
