Día de la Madre

Here’s the truth. I’ve tried to write this post for a few days now and I just can’t get it "right". My mother is the most compassionate, good-hearted, loving soul and for once, my words just fail. I have written anecdotes, shared memories, listed and exemplified her qualities—but none of it does justice. Unfortunately, most of you will never have the pleasure to know my mama, and you can really only understand what a remarkable woman she is by knowing her.

{Reunited in Madrid; March 10, 2011}

All I can do is say Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who gave me life and has made me feel cherished and supported through every single moment of it. I am glad that you were my playmate, my advisor, my confidant, my tutor, my partner-in-crime, and when necessary my discipliner as I grew up. And I am so blessed that now as I am a young adult you have morphed once again in your role as mother to become my best friend. You have taught me by example that family is where you can always turn and that being together can be more fun and rewarding than anything else in life.

{Grandma and G; April 2011}

I am extra excited for this Mother’s Day because it is my sister’s very FIRST!

{G and Jen; Easter 2011}

Jen, I know you are just at the beginning of your journey but you are already a pillar of strength and love for your little man. Together with Chris you are already creating a warm and wonderful home for G to grow up in. I know each day is bringing a new challenge and adventure, but the most important thing is that you have a mother’s heart and will always do what’s best for your little one. He is blessed to have a Mama who has wanted him since long before he arrived here on Earth and will treasure him always.

{Mother & Child; April 2011}

Happy Mother's Day to the two Mamas in my life and to every one of you out there who is a mother, loves a mother, or someday wants to be a mother.

Such a beautiful post. Having been one of the lucky ones to have met your Mom, I can say all of the things you say about her are true and so much more. Both you and Jen are so blessed to have her in your lives and be such a wonderful example of what a mother is.

I'm catching up on your blogs, dear one. And of course, this one made me cry. Indeed, your mom is a treasure and both you and your sister carry so very much of her grace and beauty, her joy and wisdom. Glad my brother married up with her so I can call you all family!
